Sex Offender Invited for Lunch
The idea of inclusion and comradery went a little too far on this early Winters Day
A disability service provider in the Hunter Valley Region, Lifestyle Solutions, once again came under the spotlight this week for an unusual gaffe. This time, the convicted sex offender and founder of Lifestyle Solutions David Hogg who is due for sentencing on June 15, was invited for a farewell lunch by the Chief Executive Jenny MacKellin.
Staff raised concerns that a sex offender was even invited to be in a centre dedicated to helping vulnerable people.
Understandably, Disability Services at their core are to help people and provide empathy to others. But knowingly allowing a convicted sex offender to be around vulnerable people whether the invite was not related to the activities of the service or not is a big drop of the ball.
